How odd is this...

Remember when I wrote my post about breaking my glasses? I thought it was odd that all those little things happened that day and questioned whether it was meant to happen? Well, how's this for meaning...

If I hadn't have broken my glasses, I wouldn't have had to pick them up from the eye doctors the Friday morning before I went into the hospital and if I hadn't have picked them up then they wouldn't have been in my purse and if they weren't in my purse then I would've been able to see much of anything until after my Dad came to the hospital the following morning. Which was after all my tests had been completed and for those of you who wear glasses you know how awful it would've been to be in a hospital you've never been in for like 12 hours and not be able to see anything or anyone!

So it seems that maybe it did happen for a reason?

I Survived :)

I'm back at home! I had to spend an extra night in the hospital but was back home by Monday afternoon. I'm not allowed to return to work until I get the go ahead from the surgeon and I don't see him for 2 weeks. Thanks for all the kind thoughts and support!

Trying to post from my cell phone

Hey guys - just a quick note to tell you that I'm in the hospital, down an appendix but hope to be home tomorrow...

Day 6 continued...

By the time I got to my place last night my Dad had put together the dining room table and chairs, the couch (yes, even the couch needed to be assembled!) and was just about to start on the entertainment centre. It took us a couple hours to put it together - my Dad claims it's 3x worse than putting things together from IKEA! My TV just looks so lost on the entertainment centre - I think I need a bigger one! Who wants to get me that for a housewarming present? Anyone? ;)

Day 6

I went over to my place during my lunch hour today to bring my Dad some lunch and found he was quiet busy this morning! He had brought over and assembled my computer table (and computer) and night stand, scrubed the floors (my parents are neat freaks - this shouldn't be news!), hung my pictures on my bedroom wall, installed cool hooky things (from IKEA, yes the "Swiss" store) on the back of the bathroom, bedroom and closet doors and was reattaching the baseboards that had to be removed and cut when my wall unit was installed in my bedroom.

The furniture hadn't arrived at that point but my mom called later to tell me that they delivered 12 boxes of stuff this afternoon and I'd better head over after work to help put it together! So, I'm on my way there now wish me luck!

Moving Day 5

Well, tonight started out a bit later than I'd hoped because I was at work until about 8pm but I managed to get a few things accomplished. Touched up the baseboards, vacuumed and washed the floors in preparation for the furniture delivery tomorrow (yay!), assembled the rest of my closet (organizer) and put away my clothes, shoes, shoes, shoes, etc. ;)

Katie came over for a bit to keep me company. I can't image what it was like living without a phone, a TV and the internet - I was so bored until she got there! All that is coming on Saturday...

Moving Day 4

Everything is really starting to come together! Today my Dad installed my closet organizer (most of it - we forgot some parts at home), hung the blinds in my bedroom and the drapes in the living room (which look amazing!). I unpacked all but one box (my parents need them back for their move), hung the shower curtain and put the towel rods back up on the bathroom wall.

I'm glad I have the time to make a slow transition! This way once I'm actually living there everything will be done! Only a few more days...

Moving Day 3

Okay, I don't know how much more of the loading and unloading of boxes I can handle?! My body hurts! Today we took over my new bed and bedroom cabinets. They were purchased from IKEA, which I'm sure is Swiss for "Comes in many pieces, will take hours to assemble". When all was said and done the second coat of paint was applied, the fridge, stove, microwave and kitchen cabinets were cleaned, bed and cabinets were assembled and installed (cabinets are mounted to the wall), painting tape was removed and light switch/electrical outlet covers were replaced.

Remember how I said everything that fit into the van was packed and over at the condo? Well, I lied! When we got home from my place tonight (after we ate Wendy's on a card table because my brother has already come to take away everything to his place!) we packed up the kitchen which means more loading and unloading :(

I'd love to include pictures of the progress but the cord (yes, that's the technical name) that attaches my camera to my computer is packed in a box somewhere so you'll have to wait a little longer!

Moving Day 2

We took over the rest of the boxes to the Condo today - another big load in the van, a load in my car and a load in RaE's car! Andre, RaE and I worked on unloading the three cars while Katie, Lisa, my mom and my dad started with washing the walls and the first coat of paint (second in the bedroom). I think we were there for about 6 hours but the walls are painted, the windows are cleaned, and everything I own (that fits in a van or smaller) is at my new place!

Second coat happens tomorrow! Thanks for all your help today guys - very appreciated!

P.S. For those of you who couldn't make it - we went with green!

Moving Day 1

We just got home from the Condo after a long day of hard work (longer for my parents as I didn't head over until after work!) The holes in the walls have been filled/sanded, taping in prep for tomorrow's painting party has been completed, the bedroom has its first coat of paint, the ceiling lights have been installed, moving/delivery dates have been scheduled, storage locker and parking spots have been found (trust me it wasn't easy!) and the first two loads of boxes (7 in my car and many more in the van) have been moved either upstairs or into the storage locker.

Tomorrow the gang is heading over for more painting bright and early so I'd better be off to bed (and by that I mean crawl into bed and watch TV before actually going to sleep!)

Boxes, Boxes and More Boxes!

I thought I'd better get my ass in gear so I started to pack up my bedroom for the move this weekend. Now I'm exhausted! 14 boxes and 8 tupperware bins later and the majority of my room is packed up and sitting in the front hallway. I honestly can't believe I had that much stuff to move and how did it all fit so neatly in my bedroom?! I still need to pack up the kitchen stuff but I'll leave that for another day - my bed is calling me! g'night...

Blue or Green?

My mom and I took a trip to Benjamin Moore yesterday to pick out/up the paint for my condo. My bedroom is definitely going to be painted the same blue as it was in my parents' house and the living room/kitchen area was going to be blue as well but a few shades lighter. When we got to the store my mom was being a tool and refused to pick a colour (she hasn't had a problem picking out every other thing for the condo!!) Anyways, I gave the woman at the store a sample of the blue from my bedroom, the colour of my new couch and showed her a couple pictures (so she could see the different colour woods). We started in the blues but made our way to golds and then to greens. Since blue was always assumed, there are a few things that won't go with the green (nothing major) but now I'm really set on the green! What to do, what to do?!

So, I have an appointment with my lawyer on Wednesday at noon to finalize the purchase of my condo - seriously, how grown up does that sound?! What are the odds?

I've been showering in the downstairs bathroom for a good while now but yesterday morning my parents had company over and they were hanging out in the kitchen. So I weighed my options - parade downstairs in my pyjamas and greasing morning hair in front of company (and back up in a towel) or suck it up just this once and shower upstairs. I chose the latter of my two options. Just as I was about to step in the shower I took my glasses off and went to put them on the window ledge just like I had several thousand times in the past. WELL, it seems that the window ledge has moved because I missed and dropped them on the bathroom floor. Below is what remains...

Honestly, what are the odds of this happening?! Was it meant to happen? First of all who has company at 9am on a Saturday morning? Secondly, how often am I'm up, let alone showered at that time in the morning? If I had've showered downstairs they wouldn't have broken, would they? I know it's silly to think this much of the simple fact that my glasses broke but serveral little things had to happen that morning for them to break - it's just weird!

December Movie Reviews

If you can believe it I only saw 3 movies in theatre for the entire month of December. Now that must be some sort of record!!

"The Holiday" - I really enjoyed this movie and definitely recommend it! It actually surprised me that it wasn't just another predictable romantic comedy - which was nice!

"We Are Marshall" - OMG, I cried so much that by the time I left the theatre my shirt was noticeably wet! What a good movie! Another one that I'd recommend (and bring a box of Kleenex!)

"A Night at the Museum" - I think I was looking forward to this one the most and it turned out to be on the disappointing side. I caught myself checking my watch a couple times which is never a good sign. It had it's funny parts (Owen Wilson was hilarious!) but it was too slow for me...

Here's what I'm most looking forward to in January:

"Alpha Dog" (Ben Foster, Shawn Hatosy, Emile Hirsch, Sharon Stone, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Willis)

"Catch and Release" (Jennifer Garner, Sonja Bennett, Juliette Lewis, Timothy Olyphant, Kevin Smith)

"The Invisible" (Marcia Gay Harden, Justin Chatwin, Michelle Harrison, Christopher Marquette, Callum Keith Rennie, Ryan Kennedy)
